Analogy

Analogy use something that has no apparent connection to the object to explain something about the object. The main use of analogies in daily conversation is to use something familiar to explain something complex. Analogy can be divided into 2 parts, Logical and Affective analogies which is proven to be useful in idea generation.

Logical analogies

Slide 34 - Are analogies, which use similarities in the design, structure or function of to connect back to the subject.

Example: A cheetah can be compared to a sports car as they are capable of traveling at high speeds.

Affective analogies

- Are the emotional resemblance.

Example: Mary is like a kitten because she's playful.

For today's class activity, the exercise would be creating a passage or writing that describes the concept of Love.

a) Mountain
Love can be cold,
Love can be hot,
No matter whether you're old,
Or you're not hot,
You'll always be in my heart.

b) Plastic money

Money can buy me a car,
Money can buy me a house,
There's one thing that money can't buy me;
The priceless love of yours.

(unless she's a gold digger)

c) Time
Men and women are like watch,
Hours and minutes work together to show values,
If one dies, the other half would be virtually useless.

d) Garbage

Women nowadays see men like garbage,
They doesn't know how to appreciate,
They just simply dump men away whenever, wherever they want to.
